Matt Gillin

Chief Executive Officer, Cereal Entrepreneur

Matt is the CEO of Relay, where he is responsible for guiding the company's strategy and overseeing the day-to-day operations. Matt has been an active entrepreneur and pioneer for nearly 20 years, and has been widely recognized for turning innovative ideas into successful businesses.

Most recently, Matt served as the CEO for Ecount, Inc., a company he co-founded in his parent's basement with his friend Paul Raden. Together, they built Ecount into a recognized leader in the prepaid card industry. In 2007, they sold the company to Citi, and were successful in delivering considerable value to their investors and shareholders.

Following the sale, Matt remained as CEO of the renamed business (Citi® Prepaid Services) until 2009. In those two years, Matt and his team were responsible for establishing Citi as the world's first truly global prepaid solution provider. During Matt's 12 years of leadership, the company delivered innovative payment solutions for the public and private sector, for clients such as Verizon Wireless, Microsoft, Sprint, Ford, GM, Toyota, Home Depot, The State of Maryland, and The State of Kansas. Upon his departure, Citi Prepaid Services was issuing more than 40 million cards per year for over 2,000 clients, and delivering solutions in more than 40 countries across the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia.

A start-up veteran, Matt was also the co-founder of C/Base, a consultancy business that specialized in partnership marketing services for Internet-based companies. Over a two-year period, C/Base structured more than $1.5 billion in total partnership deal value for industry-leading online businesses, such as Amazon, Microsoft, Netscape, Hotmail, and others.

Matt is widely regarded as an innovator. He holds two patents in the US patent office for his inventions around electronic payments, and is a multiple award-winning executive. In 2002, Matt won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2004, he was named one of the Philadelphia region's most influential executives under the age of 40. In 2006, the Eastern Technology Council named Matt the CEO of the Year, and in 2007, he was awarded the Walter M. Aikman Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Matt holds a B.A. from Denison University. Matt serves on the board of Speakup.org and AidsAlive and he and his wife Lisa are very active with other charitable initiatives in their community.

Paul Raden

Chief Experience Officer, Black T-Shirt Aficionado

Paul is Chief Experience Officer and is responsible for driving acquisition, retention, creative and communications efforts. For more than 20 years, Paul has worked as a marketing executive and entrepreneur. Most recently, he served as Chief Marketing Officer for Ecount, Inc., a business he co-founded with Matt Gillin in 1997.

In 2007, after Citi acquired Ecount, Paul served two years as a Managing Director and CMO for Citi Prepaid Services. Upon his departure in 2009, Citi Prepaid Services was recognized as the global leader in corporate prepaid solutions.

A start-up veteran, Paul was also the co-founder of C/Base, a highly successful consultancy business that specialized in partnership marketing services for Internet-based companies. Prior to C/Base, Paul served as Director of Marketing for two wholly owned subsidiaries of Ocwen Financial Corporation.

Before joining Ocwen, Paul served as a management consultant, and as a Marketing Associate at Drexel Burnham Lambert. An inventor and mentor, Paul was awarded two US patents, and is a frequent guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at the University of Pennsylvania. Paul holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated cum laude, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Steve Gillin

President, Former Beach Patrol Lifeguard

Steve is President of Relay, where he oversees business development, product development, legal and compliance. Prior to joining Relay, Steve was a Senior Vice President at Bank of America where he held a number of management positions within both U.S. Card Services and Europe Card Services. Most recently, he managed BAC's Financial Institution and Brokerage business, a $10 Billion white label credit card portfolio for 250 financial institutions, credit unions, and brokerage partners including Charles Schwab Bank, Fidelity Investments, Regions Bank, M&T Bank, and Edward Jones. Prior to managing the Financial Institution and Brokerage business, Steve was responsible for taking MBNA's Affinity Marketing model to other products and services within Bank of America. Under Steve's leadership, the Affinity Banking business grew into an $18 Billion deposits portfolio generating 40% of all new DDA acquisition for the bank and secured endorsements from the NFL, MLB, NASCAR, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, among 200 other organizations.

Steve joined legacy MBNA in 2004 as Director of Product Development for MBNA Europe Bank. While in Europe, Steve was appointed to the bank's Exeutive Committee as Director of Business Development with management responsibilities for all business development, product development, portfolio acquisitions and conversions, as well as the American Express relationship. Prior to joining MBNA, Steve was Senior Vice President of Business Development at Ecount. As a founding member of the executive team, Steve had responsibility for business development, product management, and all legal and regulatory affairs.

Steve began his career in Affinity Marketing as a principal at C/Base, Inc. He is a licensed attorney admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and spent six years practicing general corporate law and litigation. Steve graduated from Georgetown University in 1991 with a degree in history and received his J.D. from The Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law in 1994. Steve has served as a board member of AIDS Alive, Speakup.org, Best Nest, and Siloam.

Brieana Tascione

Marketing, Retired Ski Racer

Brieana is a seasoned marketing executive with experience in branding and advertising, copywriting, new business development, market research, corporate communications and investor relations.

Prior to Relay, Brieana was an independent marketing consultant with a focus on creating brand identities and key messaging for start-ups in the Philadelphia area. In this role, she used her expertise in product positioning and creative copywriting to communicate clients' unique value propositions to potential customers, partners and the media. Brieana also worked with Citigroup, where she developed product marketing materials and business development support for its innovative payments division.

Prior to her work as a consultant, Brieana was the Vice President of Global Marketing for Citi, where she managed all marketing, creative, and new business development efforts for Citi's corporate prepaid card business. In this role, she led the company's marketing efforts as it expanded to new product categories and global markets.

Brieana started her career as an account executive in advertising at Arnold Worldwide, where she developed and executed national advertising campaigns for Volkswagen, GlaxoSmithKline, Lee Jeans, Lumene Cosmetics and Hasbro Games. Brieana is a graduate of the University of Richmond with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Kyle Burton

Technology, Fedora Wearer

Kyle oversees the technology efforts at Relay, including strategy, architecture, development, and operations. A start-up veteran, Kyle has been a senior technologist for more than 10 years in a variety of domains ranging from e-commerce, to web harvesting, to large-scale data integration. Most recently, he was a member of the Algorithmics Inc. team, where he developed messaging based applications in the financial services industry.

Prior to that, Kyle was Director of Architecture at Health Market Science; the Lead Engineer at The Sycamore Group; and a Software Engineer at Rosenbluth International. A well-respected technologist, Kyle speaks frequently at conferences and groups through the Philadelphia region.

Pete Flick

Product Development, Office Vocalist

Pete is responsible for executing Relay's product strategy, developing the market roadmap, and ensuring that the company's short and long-term goals are aligned with client needs. Prior to Relay, Pete spent 10+ years investing and analyzing technology and business service companies. In 2007, Pete formed Red Wolf Holdings, to invest and incubate web-based services.

Through Red Wolf, Peter started a consumer web service called QuestionSense.com and most recently co-founded Relay.

Previously, Peter worked at Spectrum Equity Investors in Boston, a $4 billion private equity firm focused on investing in financial technology, online media and information service companies. Before Spectrum, Peter worked in the Leveraged Finance Group of Citigroup, underwriting high yield bank and bond offerings. Prior to that, Peter served as an analyst at Graham Partners, a middle-market LBO firm based in suburban Philadelphia. Peter graduated from Villanova University, with a B.S. in Business Administration. While at Villanova, Peter played Division 1 lacrosse, started and managed an industrial cleaning company, and co-founded the Villanova Entrepreneurial Society.

Relay was funded by its founders, a group of private investors, and three premier venture funds.
