Meet the Team: Rebecca
Aug 04, 2017
We hire such amazing people that we want to share a little bit about them. Rebecca started at Relay about 18 months ago with Client Success.
Tell me about your career path and how you got to Relay.
I stumbled out of college into a couple of jobs, landed in the pharmaceutical space where I spent almost 12 years. One of those jobs had me in a start-up environment and working with some pretty phenomenal people. I was looking for a change from a very large corporation, from a large, slow moving, regulation-choking, industry and decided I like the entrepreneurial small start-up feel better. I went looking through my past contacts and landed at Relay where they needed a Project Manager.
How do you spend your free time outside of Relay?
I spend it with my family, I’m raising two young children. I also like to play ultimate frisbee, which is something I’ve done since I was in high school. And vacationing.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Relay?
For me, I enjoy the people. I enjoy the fast paced environment. I enjoy the satisfaction of being able to contribute to something that’s in its early stages so my voice is heard and I have the freedom to implement change should I feel it’s necessary.
What’s your favorite song right now?
I know it is a little old, but Love Yourself - Justin Bieber.
What’s the best book you’ve read or movie you’ve watched recently?
Loved Beauty and the Beast as a great remake of a classic movie I loved as a kid. Just saw The Lobster this week. Not usually my style of movie, but a really interesting dark comedy!
What’s something your coworkers might not know about you?
Well just this morning I realized none of my team members knew that I was a singer, that I sang all through high school and college and I still sing in a choir today.
Would you rather fight 1 horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?
I think I’d rather fight one… horse sized duck. Once you get to the point of lots of little stuff it kind of freaks me out. I’m not sure if docks are small enough to freak me out but the idea of being overtaken like Indiana Jones in the Temple of Doom… you start getting into my area of fears. One big one.
What would the name of your debut album be?
So since I was already thinking about singing from earlier, my first thought was Kyrie Eleison
What’s your favorite thing to do in Philly?
So my outside social life revolves pretty much around frisbee when I’m not with my family. So on a regular basis I’m in the city playing frisbee with PADA, the Philadelphia Area Disk Alliance. I like Frankford Hall. I don’t get into many city venues but that’s one I’ll frequent.
What’s your favorite word?
One of the names my husband and I almost had my daughter was Kyrie… it was on the list for a while, we didn’t end up naming her that though. But that could be it.
“Why.” If I hear the question “Why?” again… Coming from a three year old, “why” is driving me nuts right now.
Tell me about your best birthday celebration.
I think my 21st birthday was pretty phenomenal, as they tend to be. I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for the Relay blog…
If you could only keep five possessions what would they be?
My bed. Crazy, I know, but I love my sleep. My oven because I enjoy cooking a lot. My computer, gotta stay connected. That’s assuming it comes with the internet… and that I can update it every 5 years. Computer covers like… all of it.
What was the best trip you’ve taken recently?
Colorado – Estes Park. Usually I vacation to the beach, but a mountain vacation was amazing.
